Report Edit Mode

Feature: Enable Report Editing in Front Office

Overview: This feature enables Front Office users to have permission to edit Power BI reports directly from the Front Office interface. When enabled, authorized users can modify the report.

Location in Back Office:

  • Menu: Reports -> Add New or Edit

  • Option Name: "Allow Edit Mode"

Edit Report user permissions:

  • This option can be enabled at the report level (to all users with report access) or it can be enabled for specific user(s) on the 'Report Access' page (overridden).

Functionality:

  • When the checkbox "Allow Edit Mode" is enabled:

    • Front Office users with the appropriate permissions will see an "Enter Edit Report" option.

    • Clicking this will open the report in edit mode, allowing direct modifications.

    • Any changes made will be saved to the original report in Power BI and will affect all users who access that report.

  • After making all the desired changes to the report, users must click on 'Save' to submit the changes. To revert to the viewing mode, users must click on the 'Exit Edit Mode' button.

  • When the checkbox is disabled:

    • Front Office users can only view the reports in read-only mode.

    • The "Edit Report" option will be hidden and disabled.

Use Case:

This feature is useful for scenarios where business users need the flexibility to:

  • Customize visuals for their specific needs.

  • Add new filters or elements to enhance reporting.

  • Make quick, real-time adjustments without going through IT or reporting teams.
